2014
JANUARY – FEBRUARY:
MWH Geo-Surveys Ltd. was contracted by Alpha Exploration (a predecessor to ALX
Uranium Corp.) to carry out a ground gravity survey on three grids at Middle
Lake (see Alpha news release dated January 20, 2014).
FEBRUARY: A 20
hole, 2,000 m diamond drill program was designed to test the gravity, radon,
helium, geochemical, and magnetic anomalies and VTEM conductors identified on
the property. The drilling was carried out from mid-February to mid-March and
was extended to 3,287 m in 31 holes to better assess encouraging alteration and
anomalous radioactivity encountered in what is now termed the Donna Zone,
immediately west of Skull Lake (see Alpha news release dated April
1, 2014).
2015
JANUARY – FEBRUARY: The 2015 diamond drilling program consisted of 1,850 metres in 17 drill holes, and was a continuation of diamond drilling program in 2014. Drilling in 2015 was focused on geophysical features in the northern part of the property, around Skull Lake; integrated targets based on gravity, electromagnetic and magnetic features were tested. (see Alpha news release dated March 10, 2015).
Geophysical targets were corroborated by drilling. Conductors intersected west and north of Skull Lake are related to sulfide-bearing graphitic shear zones in psammitic gneiss with pegmatite in contact with Archean Earl River gneiss complexes. Farther to the west, a large gravity low anomaly was explained by the presence of abundant Cluff Lake impact breccia containing local graphitic shear zones.
